The Dangers of Reporting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo - Anjan Sundaram

In the 21st Century, news spreads widely at such a fast pace, that it can feel like nothing happens without everybody knowing about it. But in Democratic Republic of the Congo, many things happen without the world’s knowledge – there are very few international reporters who live inside the country, leaving invisible all of the corruption and violence that plague the nation. Partly to combat this, and partly to satisfy his own urge for adventure, Anjan Sundaram moved to DRC without any reporting experience, or even a job. But through networking and risking his life more than a few times, he was able to sell his stories and spread the word about the plight of the Congolese. Sundaram’s new book,Stringer, tells the story of his life freelance reporting in one of the world’s most dangerous countries.
